January is National Hobby Month!
Hiya friends and happy National Hobby Month! January is the perfect month for starting a new hobby; it’s a fresh year filled with fresh possibilities! Feel like celebrating this designation? I’ve got a few ideas on how to start!
Deciding on a New Hobby
The best way to find a new hobby is by making a list of your interests. If you feel like you’re having trouble, answer some of these questions:
- How active are you?
- What hobbies do people around you participate in?
- How much space and money do you have to devote to a hobby?
- Do you enjoy being around people? Or would you rather be alone?
Take a peek at your answers then head below to get guidance on finding the perfect hobby to kick off National Hobby Month!
How active are you?
Your preferred activity level is the perfect way to steer you towards a new hobby. If you’re a super active person, why not take up a new sport? Hiking is a sport that doesn’t require a lot of startup equipment-just a sturdy pair of shoes. Plus it’s a relaxing way to spend time with the whole family!
What hobbies do people around you participate in?
What do your friends and family do for fun? Chances are you can join in! An added plus is they may be willing to teach you any new skills you need for your hobby.
How much space and money do you have to devote to a hobby?
Crafts are super fun-but can take up a lot of space! You should always consider how much room you have to spare before you take on a new hobby. Want to try something small? Why not take up scrapbooking? A good set of supplies will only take up a box or so of space.
Funding can also be an issue. If you’re working on a minimal budget then something inexpensive like crocheting could be a much better choice than photography.
Do you enjoy being around people? Or would you rather be alone?
People-centric people should pick a hobby that places you around plenty of others. Try finding hobby groups through religious or social clubs to participate in. Think solo is more your style? Find a new book series that holds your interest or try writing a blog.
I hope this helps you get a jump on National Hobby Month! What hobbies do you enjoy? Tell me on my Facebook page. Happy crafting!
