DIY Guide for Scented Eye Pillows
Hiya friends! I’ve had a few people write to me saying they’ve had a spectacular time creating our weighted eye pillow, but wanted to take their creativity up a level and add in some delightful scents. I think that’s a perfect idea! Just read on below to find my DIY guide for scented eye pillows!
Choosing a Scent
One of the best parts of any DIY project is selecting your materials. Using my plastic pellets is the first step, but what scents will you choose? I’ve got a few ideas:
- Lavender is widely known as a very soothing scent. It’s light and floral.
- If you’re in love with chamomile tea then why not scent your pillow with this relaxing aroma? It’s said to help relax you. Try mixing both chamomile and lavender for a soothing super scent.
- If you enjoy more earthy scents, try sandalwood. It’s lightly calming.
- Or, if you’re looking for something very refreshing for a quick afternoon nap, try bergamot. This one’s also great for travel pillows!
Create your Own Scented Pillow
Before you get started creating your eye pillow, start by scenting your Quality Plastic Pellets. You will need a gallon zip-close freezer bag, 6 oz plastic pellets, and about 10 drops of the essential oil of your choosing. Simply toss the plastic pellets and oil into your freezer bag and seal. You’ll want to let this set for a few days to make sure the scent really bonds with the pellets. Once the time has passed, lay out the plastic pellets on a flat surface covered in a towel or paper towels and let dry. Now you’re ready to start on your pillow!
Follow the pattern for the weighted eye pillows using your scented plastic pellets for the filling. Sew it shut and you’re good to go! Since you’ve scent-infused these pellets, spot cleaning is always best.
Need to refresh your scented plastic pellet pillow? Just add in about 10 drops into a 4 oz spray bottle with distilled water and spray away!
